Vineyard

$850.00

This large and delicate piece was inspired by the viniculture of Southern Brazil (the Serra Gaúcha region), and it's part of a topographical memory from the state where I was born.

The artwork balances organic movement with a rhythmic, structured technique. The choice of materials—natural linen and wool thread—gives it a grounded, tactile quality that feels both modern and artisanal.

Composition and Movement

The piece features a series vine-like paths that wander across the canvas. The lines flow with an organic spontaneity, mimicking biological patterns. The white space of the linen allows the composition to breathe and prevents it from feeling cluttered.

Color Palette

The color palette transitions subtly across the frame. It features earth tones (terracottas, and ochres), cool tones (sky blues and sage greens) and also pastels (pale pinks and buttery yellows).

Texture and Technique

The use of wool thread on a natural linen ground is the soul of the piece.

I use a "cross" or "star" stitch to build the lines. Because wool is naturally fuzzy, these stitches appear plump and three-dimensional.

The linen canvas provides a neutral texture that complements the matte finish of the wool.

The artwork evokes a sense of patient labor and serenity. There is a beautiful tension between the prickly nature of the star stitches and the soft, flowing nature of the paths they create. It feels like a map of a journey or a slow, meditative observation of nature.
