Waves

This large-scale textile artwork is a bold, tactile landscape composed of hand-stitched yarn in flowing, organic forms. Thick, sculptural lines of cotton and wool create a rich surface that feels almost topographic — like an abstract horizon where land, water, and sky melt into one another. Warm ochres, golden yellows, terracotta, and soft blush tones weave through deep navy, charcoal, cream, and muted sage. The colors move in layered, undulating bands, giving the piece a sense of rhythm and quiet movement — almost like heat waves over a desert or reflections on water at sunset. 

The chunky, handworked texture adds dimension and shadow, making the surface come alive as light shifts across it. Each stitch is visible and intentional, emphasizing the handmade quality and the time embedded in the work. Overall, it feels both modern and organic — a statement piece that brings warmth, depth, and softness to a space while still maintaining a strong contemporary presence.

Every stitch is meticulously embroidered by me in my studio in East Austin.
